With the seasons objectives already achieved and after a wonderful first term in the Girls Development League, North Norfolk girls had the opportunity to put the icing on the cake in this top of the table humdinger at Norwich Dragons. Dragons came out firing on all cylinders and heaped the pressure on the North Norfolk defence from the opening pushback. Playing against a team which resembled Bury St Edmunds U14's in terms of pace and aggression, North Norfolk showed what great strides they have taken over the course of the season, holding out until the late third quarter and very nearly taking the lead just after half-time. It was a stirling defensive effort and the girls can look back on this match and the whole season with pride in their achievements. Everyone wearing navy and pink gave 100% effort in this match and that is all that can be asked. The girls' calm and intelligent discussions during the breaks around positioning and counter-attacking showed a great maturity and understanding of the sport. The girls also showed considerable grace in defeat, applauding thier opponents achievement at the final whistle and were a credit to themselves, thier families, our club and the sport of hockey. It was a sensational effort and we're privileged to spectate and support you all! Great season girls!
