In contrast to last weeks match, North Norfolk dominated every facet of this game with the exception of the scoresheet. The most telling statistic being that after an hour of waiting on this drizzly spring evening at Sheringham, the North Norfolk goalkeeper did not touch the ball.
Playing against a team of mainly U14's girls, the U13's Dev's showed grit, determination, persistence and patience to eventually break down an opponent who had set out their stall to defend deep and try to catch them on the break. The girls passing and movement was sensational, they were calm and confident under pressure and made good decisions throughout. They pressed and pressed as the game wore on and on a couple of occasions North Norfolk players were tripped by their opponents when through on goal, but showed remarkable resilience and maturity to keep their composure and continue to run the ball in to the circle.
As the tension built, the game culminated with an attacking move in which North Norfolk scored a well deserved goal with only seconds left on the clock. It was a fitting send off for those girls who are moving into the Ladies 2nd team next week and a fabulous experience in breaking down a team whose primary objective is to defend their D.
These girls are undoubtedly ready to make the move to ladies hockey. We wish them all well for the future and will follow their hockey careers with interest.
The goal scorer for North Norfolk was Alice G. Girls of the Game were all fourteen of you. You were exceptional today! Well done!
