The push back followed by a half-pitch length aeriel into our D set the tone for a very strong, aggressive, fast paced, high pressing Bury U14's team to dominate the first half. They played a direct style of hockey, almost exclusively down the middle and racked up an unassailable 8-0 half-time lead.
This was North Norfolk's first match at a regional level and first experience of adversity this season. The character that the girls showed in their second half response was exceptional. The girls came out after the interval determined to compete and played at a significantly higher tempo, moved the ball around at a much quicker pace, tackled harder, moved into spaces to give options to the ball carrier, neutralised the Bury playmaker and created a hat full of chances in the Bury D. North Norfolk shaded the possession in the second-half and the Bury goal was against the run of play.
Had we started the first-half as we finished the second, who knows, but what a fantastic response!
