North Norfolk continued their good form with an emphatic 5-2 win against bottom of the table Colchester.
The blues started on the front foot and went ahead early when Ellen Vanlint smashed in the opener.
Vanlint scored a second after a goal mouth scramble and Hanna Hall added a third after a nice move and cross down the right from Lucy Spencer.
Colchester threatened with some long passes and quick breaks but the central defensive partnership of Zoe Gotts and Rebecca Hart handled the pressure well.
Hannah Catling added a 4th before half time as the blues went in with a healthy lead.
Colchester came out in an aggressive mood and pulled a goal back just beating super stand in keeper Sarah Powell.
A second followed after a lucky deflection from a short corner before North Norfolk lost Hanna Hall to injury. This meant a reshuffle, with super sub Jo Todd stepping in at right back and Julie Mercer pushing up to midfield.
As with every game this season so far, the team pulled together got stuck in and saw out the next 10 minutes to dampen the Colchester enthusiasm.
Mercer seemed to enjoy her new role further forward and galloped into attack after attack.
North Norfolk scored a 5th when good running from Charlotte Fiske set up Lucy Spencer who thought she’d scored, but it was Hannah Catling who got her second with a poachers finish, making sure of the 3 points.
North Norfolk are sitting very pretty joint 3rd but with 2 tricky away games left before Christmas, all still to play for.
