After a close opening weekend defeat to Bury the men’s 2s welcomed fellow promotees Norwich City 6s to Sheringham for the first home game of the season.
City had the early pressure but the defence held firm as North grew into the game.
A broken down short corner led to Alfie’s goal bound shot finding a defenders foot on the line. A flick was awarded but Arek’s effort was narrowly wide of post.
North kept up the attacking and took the lead just before half time in somewhat fortunate circumstances when a effort from Alfie found the backboard via a City stick.
The second half saw the midfield of Gibbo, Mad Eye and Hammond begin to get more control over the middle of park and doubled the lead when Alfie was on hand to turn in a shot at the far post.
The North defence of Faz, Boggy and Tom Culverwell has to stay alert to deal with the arial threats from City and keeper Callum Wilson was called upon to make a number of fine saves.
As the game wore on North began to find more space bringing Jackson and Tom Hammond on the wings more into game. Arek runs were a constant threat and from one of these Tom Whitwood came close to extending the lead shortly before full time.
A tough win against a solid City side with a good team performance and hopefully more to come!
A special mention to Willem and Arthur for stepping up from the colts for their senior debuts and both having fine games!
