Professional Heartbreakers

The Men's 1sts travelled to Ipswich, a team that has been unbeaten at home all season.

Add that to the Men's 1st current unbeaten season and on paper this was a must watch game, with one team bound to lose their unbeaten run!

North Norfolk started brightly and Ipswich must have thought they were in for a long game. 2 early short corners resulted in a much deserved goal for North Norfolk.

However, following the goal North Norfolk began to sit back and go into "Coast Mode" (if you pardon the pun!). Ipswich continued to mount counter attacks and after some one-twos down the right were rewarded with a penalty stroke following some scrappy battles in the D and the lifted ball hitting the brave Jimmy Barker on the line. Dale Bartram could have only been millimetres away from making the diving save, but the unbeaten teams remained so going into half time.

North Norfolk reverted back into the infamous W formation, and had a lot of work to do to dig out the result.

The second half started as the first half did with North Norfolk dominating the game, again the hard work was rewarded with a short corner, this time a well worked slip from Benny Miles to Ash Green who put in a hard pass to Henry Sayer at the far post to finish calmly.

Ipswich again mounted some counters, but some relentless work from Eddie Sadler-Barker and Craig Farrow in the middle of the park kept them at bay, with the back line of Ollie Whitwood, Jim Barker and Kevin Hart maintaining their solidity as they have done all season.

North Norfolk's continued pressure proved too much for Ipswich with another goal from a short corner and a scrambled diving goal from Farmer-Wright after Henry Sayers' shot found the post.

Norfolk continued to pressurise throughout the game, with Callum Gibson putting in some serious miles on the right and Ash Green working hard down the left.

A much deserved and truly professional win broke the hearts of an unbeaten at home Ipswich side, North Norfolk Men's 1s stride on to a tough fixture at home against a well organised Magpies team. A win will seal the promotion back up to Div 3NE even with games in hand, well done to the Men's 2s for picking up a point against arch rivals Norwich City who were once at the top of the tree.

A good day all round for the mens teams, let's keep up this streak.
