North Norfolk went into Saturday’s game looking to keep their opponents below them in the table and pick up their first 3 points of the season.
Both teams started on the front foot in a free flowing game. After chances for either side St Ives took the lead from a short corner and then soon after doubled their lead after a quick break.
North Norfolk didn’t let their heads drop though and came back at their opponents with a short corner goal of their own from Hannah Catling. The game changed there and NN were on top with their opponents now not offering much in return. The blues deservedly equalised through the again impressive Lucy Spencer who was at times running rings around St Ives.
Lucy had a big hand in North Norfolk’s 3rd just on the stroke of half time when she pressed the defence into a mistake allowing Ellen Vanlint to give North Norfolk the lead 3-2 at half time.
The blues came out in the second half determined to keep and extend their lead and claim their first 3 points of the season.
St Ives came out and attacked the North Norfolk defence but they held firm and kept them at bay with Louise Potter-Wood making a couple of great saves.
The next goal was always going to be crucial and it came with a great individual effort from Charlotte Fiske who rounded the goalkeeper before rolling the ball in.
With confidence now high North Norfolk played the ball around to see out the final 2 minutes in style and claim their first win of the season.
Coming back from 2-0 down to win 4-2 was a total team effort. Every player on the pitch played an important part and the result emphasises the teams spirit. Onwards to Sudbury next weekend. Played 4 W1 D2 and L1 is a solid start to the season.
